Elestials are a form of the most common crystal – quartz. But instead of forming in long, perfect points these crystals are a bit more…erratic.
At first glance, Elestials are almost alien in appearance. However, look a bit closer and you will see they are quite a fascinating crystal. Instead of neat and tidy traditional quartz points, Elestial crystals form in a more sideways growth pattern. Layered in windows and geometric skeletal outlines, multiple terminations lay side by side and even stacked together in layers. It is very common for Elestial growth to occur as a secondary layer on top of a regular quartz point or chunk.
- Elestial Quartz is also known as Alligator, Jacare, or Crocodile Quartz. Varieties with “windows” and chambers are often referred to as Skeletal, Fenster or Window Quartz. They are all Elestial.
Why Do Elestial crystals Grow in Such an Odd Way?
While there are a lot of theories to explain the unique Elestial habits, no one knows for sure. The most common explanation is that these pieces form during unstable conditions. Other experts believe it’s due to rapid growth. Or perhaps it is a combination of the two. Elestials will often include enhydro (or water) pockets, as they commonly form in water-rich environments,
Elestial crystals are most commonly found in Brazil. however, they can be found around the world including Madagascar, Africa and even the United States – here they have been located in Arkansas, and in the Herkimer mines of New York.
While Elestials are a captivating Geologic phenomenon, those interested in energetics will find an equally captivating energy profile.
The unique appearance of these crystals has inspired very deep spiritual connections. It is said that Elestial crystals can connect us with hidden and forgotten knowledge from ancient and lost civilizations, accessing the subconscious and promoting ascension to other planes.
Elestial Crystals and Adaptogenic Energy
Elestials have also been connected with Adaptogenic energy signatures (also known as BG3), which assists the body in recovering (ie adapting) from stress – a damaged energy field can be recentered to a harmonious state.
The Vesica institute, pioneers in testing these energies (as taught by Dr. Ibraham Kharim) have found that Elestial crystals with different colorings (smoky, amethyst, citrine etc) possess varying complimentary characteristics of the Adaptogenic energies. More information can be found here.
Although strange in appearance, Elestial crystals are perhaps the most fascinating in the quartz kingdom. One of the most important things they can teach us is …. never judge a book by its cover.
