Where in the
World?
~Sourcing~
Brazil
Brazil is easily our main source of minerals. Clear and Smoky Quartz, Lemurians from Diamantina and Corinto, Amethyst from Bahia, Lepidolite, Rose Quartz, Rutile, Tourmaline, Kyanite, Golden Healer, and more – Brazil produces some of my favorite pieces in the shop. I work with amazing individuals who source directly from the mines in Brazil.
Indonesia
I began searching for an Indonesian supplier in my quest to find Grape Agate for a reasonable price. My search connected me with a very kind individual who purchases directly from miners. In the case of Grape Agate, this is often from small family operations who search out these specimens. In addition to grape agate, Indonesia also produces Sphalerite, Moss Agate, Orbicular Jasper, Badar (a UV reactive sodalite similar to Yooperlite), Bumblebee Jasper, White Plume Agate, Mizone, and Crazy Lace Agate, among others.
Madagascar
Madagascar supplies a smaller amount for our shop, typically in the form of palm stones and spheres. This country produces some beautiful materials including Septarian (dragon’s egg), polychrome jasper, Moonstone, Serpentine, labradorite, Orca Agate and Kambaba Jasper, to name a few. Our Madagascan supplier works directly with miners and also pledges to ethically source their materials.
Africa
The African Nations produce some beautiful minerals, including Malachite, Dog Tooth Calcite, Brandberg Amethyst, Spirit Quartz, Orange River Quartz, Celestite, Purpurite, and many others! I have been hunting for a good source from Africa, and I have been blessed to recently locate some phenomenal suppliers (one who is woman-owned!) who work with local tribes and villages to source their minerals. it is an honor to support these communities.
Pakistan
Pakistan produces many varieties of calcite, including: Caribbean, Green Banded, Chocolate, Orange, Honey, and Mangano Calcites, as well Blue Aragonite, a favorite here in the shop. It is also the home of many world class gemstones including Aquamarine, Garnet, sapphire and Kunzite. My contact from this country actually found me, and I am very happy we have met. He is a master carver and produces custom shapes completely by hand. I am honored to offer his work here.
China
The Chinese market is most famous for its carvings. They create finely detailed pieces in any shape imaginable, perfected by their use of technology. The company I work with imports most of its material before carving; most comes from Madagascar, Indonesia, and some from South America. If I know the origin, I will list it in the item description.
USA
Most of the American materials in my shop are pieces I’ve found myself. In the past, this has included Californian serpentine, moonstone, and chert, and Maine minerals including tourmaline, smoky quartz, and blue Granite, to name a few. Self-collected pieces are currently rare in the shop, as we live in North Dakota, which doesn’t seem to produce as many crystals.
