This lovely specimen of aquamarine features a beautiful sea-blue color with black tourmaline inclusions and hematite coloring. Aquamarine, also called the mariner’s stone for its vivid water-like blue color, was historically believed to protect mariners while at sea. They would often carry chunks or wear them as protective amulets. This piece is from Pakistan, which has become an increasingly important mining locality and a treasure trove of some of the most beautiful aquamarine minerals in the world. This beautiful specimen features glassy sides, and water-like clarity with thick layer of albite on the rear, which creates a bit of a “garden” effect. Beautiful unique specimen. Comes with a glass stand and specimen putty, as shown.
