This piece weighs 4.5 oz and measures 3.5″ at its largest dimension. From Mozambique.
This lovely Elestial Quartz crystal features beautiful smoky coloring, and very thick concentration of dark inclusions, evenly scattered throughout. The flat growth habit is considered tabular. While I have typically sourced this material from Brazil, I have only seen inclusions like this in African pieces such as this one from Mozambique. This formation is quite difficult to find within Africa – locally, it is considered a rarity!
Elestial Quartz is the name given to quartz with natural terminations all over the faces and body. These crystals feature unusual and irregular growth habits, including tightly grouped and/or overlapping clusters, extrusions, inclusions and curious etchings. Most are smoky, although there are a few (rare) clear and citrine varieties found. Elestials are highly collectible and can be used extensively in crystal healing. They often display a combination of various characteristics, including tightly grouped and/or overlapping clusters, extrusions, inclusions and curious etchings. Elestial quartz is also known as jacare, skeletal, or fenster quartz.
