22mm VeraCruz Double Terminated Amethyst on Matrix 1.7 g

This specimen weighs 1.7 grams (not including stand weight) and measures 22 x 7 x 6 mm. From Las Vigas, Vera Cruz, Mexico.

Vera Cruz is particularly well-known amongst collectors, as the crystals from this locale are distinctly different than typical specimens. Compared to Brazilian Amethyst, which is possibly the most common; Vera Cruz Amethyst has a much longer crystal length, with extremely high clarity and a very soft lilac color. The specimens from this area are also very small – even the largest pieces discovered are no longer than a few inches at best. This particular piece is double-terminated and sits on a very thin section of the original quartz matrix. The coloring is very light, and the clarity is exceptional.
