This Amethyst weighs 5.5 oz and measures 2.8″ at its largest dimension. From Chiredzi, Zimbabwe
This crystal features a light purple color, and scattered inclusions of hematite just under the surface of the double-terminated point. This large Double Terminated Amethyst is from Chiredzi – an African region which has become increasingly popular amongst collectors. Initial discoveries of these Amethyst and smoky crystals were quite small, but larger specimens, such as these, have begun to come forth. Crystals from this region are also known as “Shangaan Amethyst”, with growth habits of “skeletal” or “window” Amethyst, featuring unusual and irregular growth habits, tightly grouped and/or overlapping clusters, extrusions, inclusions and curious etchings. Bands of smoky color are often seen as well.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is historically connected with royalty. It is believed to be a stone of serenity and spirituality and is associated with the third eye and crown chakras. Elestial formations are said to contain powerful energy, with the ability to increase our spiritual connection and intuition. They are also said to assist the body in adapting from stressful events – a damaged energy field can be recentered to a harmonious state.
