This piece features a botryoidal crystal formation. Typically Blue Aragonite forms in fibrous crystals, while this piece has a solid, tunnel-like growth habit. Blue Aragonite is often mislabeled as Caribbean Calcite. While they both grow from the mineral calcium carbonate, they grow in slightly different conditions. This alters both the coloring and form a bit. Seen here, Blue Aragonite is a deeper, more vivid blue with a visible different crystallization habit.
